Music and Gender

Image
Hey guys, I hope you all are doing well. I honestly feel like I am going through a mid-life crisis, but that's okay. For this blog today I will be writing about music and gender, the music I listen to and who sings the song. I usually never really paid attention to which gender sung which song or genre of music, but ever since this blog topic, I have. I listen to a variety of music and both genders-- but I am more than sure everyone else does too. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this blog:)) For my first topic I will be talking about rappers. I think it is fair enough to say that I usually listen to male rappers, mainly because rappers were typically male. I think they feel "cooler" by being a rapper because rap music has a ton of cool beats and "cool-dude" dance moves. Today though, their are more female rappers evolving out there. You normally do not see a lot of females aspire to be a girl rapper, and if they did, most people would say that the girls do not ha...

Cool Stuff No.2

Hey fellow music classmates! Today's article will be about some more cool stuff that I wanted to know about and then share it with you guys.  For the first cool thing, I wanted to tell you guys something about their culture and style. From our previous classes and videos that we have watched together, I noticed that every single person is dressed in very vibrant colors; I wanted to know why. I am not going to lie, I actually like their choice of style and the colors they choose to wear. I think they are very unique and beautiful. After some searches, I found something about what each color represents. The first color, which is black, represents anger and darkness, as well as an absence of energy, and also represents death. White also represents a death as well, and get this, only widows are allowed to wear this color. The next color, which is one of the most popular colors is red. Red represents purity and initiates fear. It is the preferred color for brides, mainly because it sign...

Music and Religion, My Type!

Image
Hey Guys! Its me again, Faith, about to blog on some music and religion stuff. Anyways, we, if not all, should know that music is a big part of my life and so is religion. I grew up in The First Baptist Church of Gaffney and still attend there, and love it. Going there every Sunday, singing and worshiping how wonderful and amazing God is. Religious music has changed me. I don't just sing the music, I listen to it, I take it all in, and try to understand what God is saying. Sometimes, if not all the time, listening to religious music is how I perceive the world and God. Yes, I listen to the sermons, and they are very good as well, but the music... it just hits different. I am not automatically assuming that everyone is a Christian in this class, but these are the songs from my religion and I really hope you all enjoy them and what I have to say. So, just like my first blog post, I am going to say again how much I LOVE Lauren Daigle and her music. Lauren Daigle has impacted my life ...

Cool Stuff

After listening to the Northern Cree Singers, I learned several new things not only about them, but also about their culture. One of the things that I learned was that they dance in a circle while others sing and beat on a drum. That alone was not enough for me, so, I decided that I wanted to know why  they danced in a circle. Interesting enough, after looking it up, they dance in a circle to honor the Northern Lights. They believe in their culture that it is regarded as a good sign if the northern lights dance as the people dance. To end the circle dance as the northern lights fade away, they each weave their way out of the circle one by one.  After listening to the Six Nations Women, I learned that they do a shuffle dance. I also learned that they use shakers instead of using drums. I wanted to learn how the Native Americans made their shakers. Well, for starters, I learned that the correct term for the shakers is "Rawhide Rattles". Secondly, I learned that they are us...
