Hey Guys! Its me again, Faith, about to blog on some music and religion stuff. Anyways, we, if not all, should know that music is a big part of my life and so is religion. I grew up in The First Baptist Church of Gaffney and still attend there, and love it. Going there every Sunday, singing and worshiping how wonderful and amazing God is. Religious music has changed me. I don't just sing the music, I listen to it, I take it all in, and try to understand what God is saying. Sometimes, if not all the time, listening to religious music is how I perceive the world and God. Yes, I listen to the sermons, and they are very good as well, but the music... it just hits different. I am not automatically assuming that everyone is a Christian in this class, but these are the songs from my religion and I really hope you all enjoy them and what I have to say.
So, just like my first blog post, I am going to say again how much I LOVE Lauren Daigle and her music. Lauren Daigle has impacted my life so much with her music and I could not ask for a better mentor to listen to. A couple of her songs, such as Rescue, Everything, You Say, and Look Up Child, are just a few of the songs that have changed my view on a lot of things. These songs have made me feel like a completely different person, and have made me feel so much more confident in my faith with God alone. Ever since I started listening to her music, it is like my walk with the Lord has changed. Although this next song is not by Lauren Daigle, I am still so in love with it. It is called "You're Gonna Be Okay". Yes, it does get you in your feelings, but it is just SO good! Just listen to the words and take it all in... it just shows, just like it says, everything, and you, are going to be okay, why? Because God's got you!
This next selection of music might surprise all of you because I just went from "in your feelings" type of music to "woah this is fye bro" type of music. Yes, you are probably thinking right, it is rap music. What makes this music so great though is that it is Christian Rap music and they talk about how great God is! Like I have said before, I love all types of music, but for some reason, religious this rap music just hits different every time. It is like I can get in this rhythm and nice beat and still worship my God all at the same time. One of my personal favorites is Lecrae. If you have never heard of Lecrae's testimony, I would highly suggest you to do so. His testimony is one of the most powerful and moving testimonies I have ever heard. I remember when I first heard his music when I was warming up for a soccer game, and I had no idea what it was, but I absolutely loved it. The more I listened to it during that warm-up session, the more I began to actually listen to the words... so uplifting... so encouraging... so moving. His music just shows how forgiving and merciful God is. One of my personal favorites of his was "Tell the World".
Lastly, I am going to talk about what my church sings. Yes, I will admit, it is not my favorite, but then again, they are not all that bad. Like I have said before, whenever I listen to music, I try to listen to the words and take them all in. One thing I love about the old church hymnals is that they hit spot on describing God and his ways. Growing up, I could really care less for these old hymnals but as I have gotten older and have been able to comprehend more things, I have begun to really truly understand what these hymnals mean and why we as Christians sing them. It not just a cultural thing but it is also a way for people to connect with God and understand him better. Not trying to knock any old people, but hymnal songs is one huge way that they connect with God. One such popular song that my church sings a lot is ''At the cross''.
Hey Faith. I was raised in a Baptist church. So, I loved your blog. I loved the music you picked. Lauren Diagle is beyond my favorite. Her music is my favorite. I listen to her music while studying, walking around, showering, etc. It just makes me feel loved and encouraged that I do have a purpose.
I've never listened to Lauren Daigle's music before, but I loved her voice! It was soothing and you believe it when she says "you're gonna be okay". I liked the switch up from a slow ballad to the rap music. Lecrae makes you want rejoice in the adversity of life because it makes you stronger especially with the love of God.
